Thanks to you our second year as a nonprofit in Tennessee has been a success - and it’s not over yet. As 2021 comes to a close we wanted to reflect on some of the highlights of the year, which you made possible through volunteering, planting trees, and your donations.
In November Green Interchange organized a tree-planting ceremony to honor veterans and first responders at Fire Station #10 in Clarksville, TN. We planted 10 oak trees which have important significance to the military. Bridgestone Americas sponsored the event.
In December we planted 45 trees at the Bridgestone Americas Distribution Center in Lebanon near Highway 109 and I-840.
7,500 trees were planted in yards and the community by over 1,750 volunteers as part of Plant a Tree for Tennessee in April. These were bare-root saplings. We'll be offering this event again on April 16, 2022 - if you'd like to be a pickup location leader, sign up here.
80 bigger trees were planted by over 33 volunteers in yards as part of Plant a BIGGER Tree for Tennessee in the fall! These trees were 5-7 foot tall! If you want a BIGGER tree for the holidays, scroll down for details!
In March 2021 we planted 250 large trees (6-8 feet each) along creeks, streams and/or rivers in Middle Tennessee as part of our Waterways program. We planted in Lebanon, at Thurgood Marshall Middle School in Antioch, and near the Duck River in Spring Hill.
In June we hosted an online sweepstakes as part of the Mississippi River Network River Days of Action. Participants took a total of 162 actions including picking up litter, visiting a stream or riverside park, planting native plants, taking boat rides, and signing up for the River Citizen program.
Three amazing interns helped us this year: Nora Johnson, Jack McCaffrie, and Jessica Poe!
As a new nonprofit organization, we could not be more proud of all that we accomplished together. Your support truly makes a difference.
